- Chelating (calcium-binding) agent.
- Removal of the smear layer.
- For chemical and mechanical cleaning of the root canal.

Advantages
- Removes smear layer and softens the dentin & easing the removal of calcified obstructions.
- Urea Peroxide interacts with Avuechlor and produces Oxygen bubbles, which flush out the debris.
- EDTA reacts with calcium deposits & softens the canal walls and hence helps rapid cleansing and enlargement of canals.
- Lubricates instrument movement and eliminates instrument binding and breakages.
- Unclogs dentinal tubules and the apical area, allowing better penetration and easier placement of root canal medicaments and fillings in the canals.
